Here, homes become enduring treasures.

Tamara Gavin is a certified interior designer in Asheville, NC. She has worked for award-winning architecture and interior design firms throughout her career and has 16 years of experience designing residences and commercial spaces in New York City, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Western North Carolina, and beyond. She started Tamara Gavin Interior Design in 2017 and now focuses on residential design with a mission to offer sincere and authentic design that celebrates our architectural heritage and gives heed to fundamental design principles while also embracing a modern aesthetic.

She is conscientious and approachable when it comes to designing for others, and is interested in tradition, culture, and legacy. Spaces that offer warmth, dimension, and beauty can energize the senses and support those rituals which make life meaningful.

Houses are permanent structures that nurture people, address problems, and contribute to the enchantment of a town. The ones that can happily last for many generations are the ones that connect us to those stories and memories we hold dear.

Tamara is also co-founder of Glad Haus Design Collective in downtown Asheville.

testimonials

"Some of the nicest and most talented people you'll ever want to meet. Designs were inspired and helped us discover things we didn't even know we wanted. The process was easy, effective, and fun! We took a tired 1980's decor and restored our room to its 1920's glory. They're the best!"

Chris B., Asheville, NC

"Tamara did an incredible job on our NYC midtown apartment. My husband and I are basically clueless when it came to design, but after even one consultation she knew exactly what we wanted. Now our friends refer to our home as a page out of a design magazine."

Megan D., NY, NY

"Tamara provided a schematic plan to finish our basement, which included a bedroom/bathroom, kitchen/dining space, and living room. She worked with us to maximize storage and to create the best use space. Her floor plan, selected elevations, and electrical & lighting plan were perfect and thorough. Throughout the process, Tamara was professional, timely, and easy to work with. We highly recommend her services, and will definitely work with her again!"

Jenni O., Asheville, NC

"Tamara was a great designer for our project! When we bought our home we knew it had potential. It was a plain, beige, 80s style build in a neighborhood where a lot of the houses were all the same. We saw that we could make this house our own as long as we could work with someone who could translate the vision into reality. Tamara was a perfect fit! She started by listening to my ideas and gave sketches and feedback every step of the way. We get compliments on our space all the time now!"

IT'S YOUR STORY

Preserve the past, cherish the present, inspire the future.

LESS IS MORE

“Throughout our history, our best houses have derived elegance from simplicity, dignity from restraint, and richness from subtle diversity. There should always be a place in our communities for comfortable, livable houses that express the character of the region, the site, and the people who live in them. A good house has integrity of design rather than a jumbled collection of glitzy gimmicks.

Let's build houses that live comfortably with their surroundings, are courteous to their neighbors, and are deferential to the environment.”

John Milnes Baker, A.I.A.
